The Matchmaker

The Matchmaker ©
By
Michael Casey

Well I could start by saying the Match Girls did go on Strike, but only you History buffs will know about that. What you are all saying, or go ask my old History teacher, so what has that got to do with Matchmaking? Well we strike matches to make them ignite and then we can make a fire or light the gas under the kettle. Then we can have a hot cuppa to warm us up on a cold day, it lifts our spirits and we can face the turmoils of the day or whatever blocks our way. Or we can have a full warming meal, thanks to that match being struck.

Now Love also has the same effect, that’s why we all long for love and seek out somebody to share our lives with. Sometimes it’s a long and winding road until we find somebody, other times we have known since birth who we’d marry or who has been chosen for us. Obviously over here in the West we can marry or just mate with whomever we chose, other places practices you can do your own PhD on.

So when we cannot find that somebody we turn to the Matchmaker. Matchmaker Matchmaker make me a match, as sung in The Fiddler on the Roof, or wasn’t Barbara Streisand in a film with that in, or was in Cher in Moonstruck? Too many films in my head, thousands of them. So what kind of man would you like. Still breathing. Must he be good in bed? Enough said. Or is kindness the most important trait, but 3 times a week, or did you say night?

So you have a list, and your ideal man must have all those qualities, then you settle for the fat silver haired writer in shades from Birmingham. Because he could always make you laugh, or was it the size of his insurance policy?

You see the Matchmaker and it’s like confession, when will you meet a nice bloke, not somebody who chases every piece of skirt, who has notches on his bedpost. Where have all the nice blokes gone? Then the Matchmaker’s son comes in taking off his clothes and putting them in  the washing machine before he running upstairs to shower. He doesn’t see you sitting in the dark with his mother. He’s a mechanic and knows how fix anything, he can drive anything and make anything move. As he flashed naked before you he had made you move, and at that moment you were fixed on him, and he was driving you wild with desire. Why was he so special? You’d seen naked men before, you were not a virgin, so what was it. Was it love at first sight, were his contours all mapped out, and showing you which valley and peak you’d follow. Was it plain lust? Or was this the Matchmaker’s magic? She had thought her own son was her biggest failure. Now a bolt of Lightning.

The Matchmaker has a list of boys and girls,or rather should I say men and women, she maintains this list through hours of social contacts, and working the phones. Mark likes clever girls, Peter likes dumb blondes, John likes kind hearts. Mary like money, Jane likes doctors, Annie likes the exotic, and Cilla likes anybody who has a heart. Now it is for the Matchmaker to join those two together, it’s mortise joints not superglue that should hold a couple together, and nails would certainly hurt. The Matchmaker has to unite so they won’t fight.

The Matchmaker has a feel for what would make a good couple, a talker with a listener. A passionate person with somebody who wants the same, a hand holder with another hand holder, a ying with a yang. Really its like a cake mix, you have to have enough of all the right ingredients. Not too bitter or too sweet, and then you have to mix well, and then bake long enough to rise at the right moment and not collapse if taken out the oven too early. And if all that goes right the final result tastes just right.

So a Matchmaker will start as a sandwich maker, then an occasional meal maker, before offering a buffet, and then a Michelin star chef, all so her clients can end up having Crumpet. Love is a gentle thing, the Matchmaker must offer something, a potential partner who will give not indigestion to the other. A partner must be like Mary Poppins, a spoonful of sugar not medicine. No bad tastes in the mouth.
So on the Matchmaker works, striking matches and lighting fires of friendship, and embers that turn to Love. And when it works there is marriage and fireworks, the Matchmaker gets invited everywhere, little wonder she is fat. But in return there is great happiness, the Matchmaker is showered with gifts and discounts. You cannot count the happiness a Matchmaker brings, and yes some of the children are named after her. So every family seems to have an Agnes in it,

Well I have to do my own matchmaking now, me and the TV news, I have a relationship with all the Tv reporters, in that I watch them all the time. I suppose that could make me sound sad, but heckling the politicians being interviewed is my Match of the Day.

Tip for tomorrow 3rd Jan Thursday's story will be MATCHMAKER

Tip  for tomorrow 3rd Jan Thursday's story will be MATCHMAKER

1st of all we are all praying for the baby who survived the explosion in Russia and survived in all the cold. Maybe Mary herself held the baby in her arms until the emergency service finally found the baby.

I start with Russia as my book in Russian  translation is being read today.
The Butcher The Baker and The Undertaker
if you click here it will take Russians and Ukrainians
to my other site to read a Russian Translation File

https://michaelgcaseyfrombirminghamengland.wordpress.com/2018/12/13/as-christmas-is-very-near-heres-some-translations-for-the-world/

AND  ANOTHER  BOOK IN RUSSIAN AND MY ELEVATOR AD IN RUSSIAN

PLUS OTHER TRANSLATIONS SO TELL EVEYBODY AT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,

AND SPREAD THE WORD ON FACEBOOK INSTEAD OF READING FAKE NEWS.

Now why Matchmaker, because I was having a rest after a long day for me, remember the heart op etc, when I thought I'd spoken to 3 beautiful women today, one was taking my blood at my doctors, so she had to speak to me.

Anyway while I was having a rest I thought, Matchmaker, I may add the Babuska photo  if I can find it. So What if I was a Matchmaker. And that's the idea I'll play with in the morning once I've been to bed. Though I have to take another walk in the freezing cold in the morning. So I may write the story before I go out, as I may get too tired. Yes I hate being a shadow of what I was, but my reactions are still very fast, so no cheek or I may slap your face for a 2nd time. Yes that stinging was a  slap from me, or was it just a blur. Or as my mother might say "any cheek and I'll hit you with the wet mop from the mop bucket. I'm sure my Russian readers will enjoy that joke.

So come back tomorrow and bring SOME friends. I want to finally break the dam and get world domination, one person at a time.

What to Expect in 2019

What to  Expect in 2019

Well I never know what I'm going to write till I sit here and cast my mind, like a fly fisherman. Then I hook on an idea and away I go. Normally it takes an hour and then I'm done, I don't prepare or edit afterwards. I do a quick proof as I read back what I've written. Mostly the first time I read something in full is as I post it here, and then if there are any typos I correct them. So the process is Write in Word or WPSWriter or any other one you may use yourselves. Then I save it, as I used to be a computer operator so saving is ingrained into me. Then I post on my 4 sites. They are copy sites so that I have a security online just in case. I also receive copies to my mailboxes once its posted. All very boring. So the Writing is an hour, but the security and posting process takes 30 mins after that.

As I reread it I give myself marks out of 10. My average is 8 most of the time. Sometimes when I read the whole thing I may laugh a lot, or even cry. Then I may say that's a 10. What you lot think I can only 1/2 judge by the viewing figures. You are a very scattered bunch, all over the world. I do have TRANSLATIONS on my Wordpress Site and In Search of an Indian Princess  in Polish has been an enormous hit. But do tell your friends Google Translates in seconds, so try more material.

I used to read my new stories aloud to my daughters for years, but now they only occasionally hear a story, the years have passed and they have moved on. The stories have moved on too, as observational stories stop as your kids grow up. So you get more total fiction, or my version of it.

Trump sadly is a joke, a sad joke and he has forced himself upon me, metaphorically. I hope Mathis' s resignation and McCrystal's  denunciation is the start of the Republicans beginning to think of the Republic First, and not party. And maybe the tide of selfishness and arrogance can be turned back, even Canute got wet feet in the end, so maybe the same will happen to Trump.

The foreign bank loans will reveal everything assuming Justice Roberts does not get in the way and aid a Constitutional Crisis. Then it will be who the Justices support, the Party or the People.

I saw the film The Post recently so lets hope People win over Patronage. Though looking from over here in Birmingham England, the USA system seems to be too Political. The LAW is over everybody, and Politics should be removed from it. Something for my USA readers to ponder. Maybe you should copy the UK law system.

Returning to writing I may see an item on the news and this will trigger an idea or a parody. My style varies and come from 70 plus years of radio and film material I've eaten over my lifetime, I'm not 70 I have just watched far too much tv and listened to a lot of comedy radio. I listened to the repeats, and my film watching goes back to Charlie Chaplin, hello to my dear friend Robert Downey Jr. I did once ask him was he going to do Chaplin II but he did not get the joke. He is a  great actor, and I do love his Sherlock.

As I sit here talking to you I've wearing an oversize lab coat to keep me warm in front of the screen. I bought it for my daughter but they sent the wrong size but I decided to keep it, I now remind myself of my mother who used to wear a blue smock. The last time I saw my mother alive she was wearing he blue smock and standing  in front of our fridge, then she died 23years ago. I kissed her goodbye in her coffin, she was as cold as ice, which was never her in life, I could  cry now, but she said don't cry so I never did when she died, and any Faith I have in me was poured into me from her.

Mrs Murphy in The Butcher The Baker and the Undertaker is my mother plus her 3 sisters, the power of 4 Kerry women. I did not want to put my dad in the book, however when I finished and I read back I realised that Big Sid the  Butcher, who would wear a big white almost lab coat in his butcher's WAS my dad, or rather the LOVE that the butcher had was my dad.

If I do ever get a copy typist then Tears for a Butcher will be very dramatic, as Big Sid gets shot at the climax and Mrs Murphy goes nuclear, NUCLEAR PRAYERS are needed and she is the woman to press the button. I'm smiling and tearing up as I think of it, if I could sit and recite the 600 page sequel I could do it in 3 months.  24 two hour sessions should be enough. But it's more likely I'd be seduced be a Kpop girl band than that happening. And yes I abhor Political Correctness and Snowflakes, as my range is from Lenny Bruce to Bob Hope and everything in between.

I do hope the style of my writing, or rather talking makes what you read or hear a nice easy piece of writing. A coffee and a doughnut long. Every day I try and write when the Pain Monster stays away. I had a quadruple heart bypass 4 years ago in a few days time, plus I have arthritis, and a some Ckd and just for fun Tinnitus arrived in 2018 too. Apart from that I'm a George Clooney lookalike though a 248pound version, obviously knowing all those facts the Kpop girl bands are just rushing to Birmingham, as I am such a catch. But I do think I am healthier than Kim in his suit up North. Don't forget to read my Kpop saves the world story too.

And with that I'll go and empty our washing machine before I stagger down the hill to get a bit of shopping. By the way on the subject of staggering, if you read my stuff you will notice the far from perfect boy always gets the girl. Because vacuous girls on  reality tv marry pumped up idiots, but in my stories the prettiest girls are always attracted to the HEART, so they accept the boy's stammer or limp or even lack of education, because Love Conquers ALL. My mother told me that a long time ago, and I do like happy endings, no matter how far fetched, and if you know my life then you know Far Fetched has become my True  Reality.

Now I'll finish for today 1st Jan 2019, one day will be my last day but hopefully not until the Kpop girls come and type up my Tears for a Butcher...
or maybe my grasp on reality has already gone.

2019 is here

2019 is here

2019 is here, and as I wait for my daughter to come home from a friends  down the Hill, just  a quick thanks to each and every person the world over who has come  visiting my Words. 2018 was a dramatic year, we finally moved house, we have shades of Romeo and Juliette  touching the family. I am getting weaker, so I have to pace myself, though it may just be flu twice and ear infection.  I think I should pray more this year, and maybe write more poetry, or my attempts at it.  I also really need a haircut, I look like an Old English Sheep Dog.  There is still some life left in the old dog yet.
