I am just a Mug (c)
By Michael Casey
I am just a mug
Everything has been poured into me
I am just as mug
Everything has been mixed in me
I am just a mug
I stir and stir without thinking
I am just a mug
I dunk my biscuits in
I am just a mug
I slurp and spill down my jumper
I am just a mug
I splash everywhere when put down without care
I am just a mug
I hold close to me, to warm my hands in Winter
I am just a mug
I hold tighter for comfort in the dark
I am just a mug
I am shared and left in the sink unwashed
I am just a mug
But I am the favourite one
I am just a mug
I am sought out, at the back of the cupboard
I am just a mug
But no other will do
I am just a mug
I am battered and chipped and should be thrown away
I am just a mug
Well past my heyday
I am just a mug
Laughed at and Scorned
I am just a mug
But when broken, tears fall down
I am just a mug
A mug, well used and battered and chipped and worn down
Now I’m broken
I am just a mug
I am no mere token
I am just a mug
I am your dad
Bury me in the cabbage patch
So, the cat can water me often
A simple mug, now gone
Am I missed from the back of the cupboard
Or is my memory already gone
Replaced by cat piss in the garden
I am just a Mug
