Tue 28 & Wed 29 Mar

Dada Masilo wowed us here at Birmingham Hippodrome in 2019 with her stunning reimagining of Giselle. Now back by popular demand, Masilo and her all-South African company of incredible dancers return soon with The Sacrifice.

The Sacrifice is an exhilarating performance that will transport you through a journey of emotions, powered by original music live on stage. Celebrating the advent of Spring, a young girl is chosen as a sacrifice and dances herself to death as part of an ancient ritual.

Inspired by The Rite of Spring, award-winning choreographer Dada Masilo presents a fusion of contemporary dance with the expressive movements of ‘Tswana’, the traditional dance of Botswana, rooted in storytelling and healing.

Dada Masilo is renowned for her reinvention of classic stories, mining her own cultural heritage to create a distinctive choreographic style fusing ballet with modern and traditional dance.

Post-show Q&A with the company on Tue 28 Mar. Free to ticket holders.
