tinnitus terror

tinnitus terror

it has been battering me, like dancing on a volcano

most of you would nt have coped

I don't know how I do

but i do have a Rosary

and I get a snatch of sleep here and there

music is the foil against the dagger of tinnitus

thank god for Amazon Music Unlimited 

and my old 90s music collection on my old phone

a dab radio too

I cannot not have silence

not the silence of the lambs

just the static, like the fires of hell burning in my head

but without the heat and flames

I appreciate just how hard my dad worked

walking into a furnace for 40 years to feed us his 6 kids

dad was my best friend, so of course i visited every single day for 3 years

and the rest you know, padre pio and me tells it

the bombardment of noise which becomes physical pain

then the arthritis joining in, my own road to calvary

carrying a cross  on my left shoulder that buckles me down

YES another day in Paradise

this is my life

its nearly 11pm now and I've returned to my desk

to share this

I wish I could share my pain, the noise in my head

but you are lucky

all you suffer are my WORDS

I watched as the candle's life ended, smoke spiralled in the air. I tried to see where the smoke was

going only it just disappeared into nothingness. Another candle came to an end, but suddenly itrared

up a final flicker of flame then it was gone, black smoke twirling into the air. I strained to see where

the smoke was going only it was no use. I'd need a magnifying glass, binoculars, a microscope or a

periscope, smoke just could not be followed. Another candle went out again I strained to see where

its life had gone, but it was no use, the trail disappeared into nothingness. The candles were going

out randomly, I had to jump from one to another in a vain attempt to see its moment of death, so

that I could observe what was happening to them. In all 7 maybe 8 candles "died" as I watched from

my position sat next to the candle rack in the cathedral on my lunch break. That was all yesterday,

and today the process was repeated. Each candle is a hope, a wish, a prayer. Just as Jazz music is

music turned into smoke, that weavers and sneaks its way through an audience, a candle and its

smoke is a living flame of hope and love which we all hope will touch God's spirit and let him hear

our prayers. The smoke from a candle is like a ballet dancer doing the most intricate of dances, its

like girl dancing with a ribbon at the Olympics. Only the candle and its smoke might say more for us

when we can't think of the right words to say, God Help Us, can be all we can say, but if said from

the heart then it is enough, For Faith Moves Mountains.

And candles are more than flickers that end in smoke, they remind us of the Light and Warmth of

God's Love.

Well I said I’d write something comic so here it is. Tonight we discover that Trump asked the FBI to stop investigating Flynn, I’m not going to write about that but as stated in an earlier piece I do think Trump will resign, to spend more time with Barron, in fact I recommended he should.

So tonight I’m going to explain the Meaning of Words, for the Meaning of Life you should go ask Monty Python, or maybe my daughter as she is going her Religion exam tomorrow. No I’ve decided to talk about this just a few minutes ago, after I slapped on the Movelat pain killer.

I have readers all over the world and I did put a load of Translations on this site https://butcherbakerundertaker.blogspot.co.uk/ but anybody who uses a computer knows how to get a translation, Google is good. For others my backup site Translates if you just click on the Square https://michaelgcaseyfrombirminghamengland.wordpress.com/  I hope that’s simple for any of you who have English as a 2^nd Language.

To my theme though, What do Words Mean?

I Love You. Means I Love You.

I Love You? Means a Question, I love you ?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I Love You. Was also used by Judas, so it means something else.

So how things are SAID makes a difference, as does context. That’s why actors get confused by just 3 simple words, for us the writers its simple. I love you, I love you, I love you, means three different things, if only actors could just read what’s on the page.

I Love You can actually mean I HATE you.

And I hate You, can actually mean I LOVE YOU. You might say this over your own mother’s grave, you hate her because she has left you all alone in this world. But obviously you LOVE HER.

I love you may just mean you want sex with a girl, but you say I love you because the use of that word gets her in your bed. If you just said can I sleep with you, then she is affronted, and slaps your face and thinks you are a bastard, and may go to bed with your best friend instead.

So the use of language can win or lose the girl. Conversely by saying I really want to eat your biscuit, which is a metaphor, that can be a very rude thing to say, but the girl likes the honest and so you eat her biscuit with a cup of tea on the side, or several.

So language and even extreme rude language can win the day, because people get fed up with all the pretentious language, and the girl likes honesty. We have convention and years of conditioning that controls or language in the mating game. Can you just come to bed before I get wrinkles, you are my duvet.

Now I could use extreme language and coarse language, repeatedly, repeatedly and repeatedly till I fall over exhausted after an hour. But that would be the cheap option, or even a metaphor, so I won’t do it I’ll just leave it to to you imagination. Less is more, more or less, depending on how many cups of tea and biscuit you are having. I hope I have made myself clear, if I have not then maybe my language is not up to the challenge, if that’s another metaphor you’ll have to decide for yourselves.

See words are weapons and the pen is mightier than the sword, I know I have used my pen as a sword in the past, and no that is definitely not a metaphor. Ask a few CEOs and they will recognise my name. But what of you in Portugal or France or Poland or Germany or any other far flung place that reads my words, do you realise that words are also tokens of love and by using them right you can win the fair maiden and you can both grow old and fat with your 10 children.

I have 1,068,000 words on the page, in my books on Amazon as you read them you’ll see how my themes have grown and changed over years. The one thing that remains the same is that I want to make you all smile wherever you are in the world. I don’t want to shock you, I just want to be a cartoon and cartoons don’t use bad words, they are there to make their point via laughter.

Anybody can swear, and I do on occasions, but on the page that I’m sharing with people all over the world I want to make you laugh. If I’m using a metaphor or Pantomime humour I hope it doesn’t shock you to the core. I want readers from 10 to 110 to enjoy my words. And if you divide 10 into 110 you get the 11 ways to eat your biscuits, and yes that is a metaphor you can explain to your boyfriend. So be careful of all the crumbs that’s all I’ll say, I just hope that now you really do understand what words mean.

Jimmy Carter doesn’t turn 100 until 1 October, but the red carpet was nevertheless rolled out at the Fox Theater to pay homage to America’s oldest living former president

Former president Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday is on 1 October. His supporters didn’t want to wait that long to throw a party.

A parade of Georgia luminaries on Tuesday lit up the venerable Fox Theater on Peachtree Street. In a city that boasts new, swanky modern glass and steel venues like the Cobb Energy performing arts center or the Eastern befitting the city’s rising prominence, organizers chose Atlanta’s oldest concert hall to celebrate Carter’s centennial.

Jimmy Carter is four years older than the Fox Theater.

“Not everyone gets 100 years,” said Jason Carter, the former president’s grandson and 2014 nominee for governor of Georgia. “But when someone does and uses that time to good, it’s worth celebrating.”

The event was almost entirely devoid of maudlin sentiment. Video testimonials by Jon Stewart, Bob Dylan and others, were splashed across a screen, interspersed by images of famous musicians of the period visiting the White House.

Every living president except Trump sent a message of congratulations and well-wishing.

Headliners included five-time Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo of Benin, BeBe Winans and Carlene Carter – no relation to the former president.

Carter, a Democrat, was president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, and is the longest-lived US president. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel peace prize for what the committee said was “his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development”.

“When my mother, June Carter, and her husband, Johnny Cash, went to visit him at the White House, I was pretty jealous, as I thought so highly of him even back then,” said Carlene Carter, 68. “Both he and June had suggested more than once that we were, in fact, kin, and the fact that both he and mom had that Carter ‘sparkle’ makes me think that they were related. When Jimmy Carter was our president, it was evident to me that he only wanted the best for our country and for all humankind. I look at him as a very special, spiritual soul, so when people ask if we’re related, I always respond, ‘I hope so.’”

In his video message, Stewart said: “He has these ideals, and he executes them. Personally.

“It’s a lesson in living your life with intention.”

Dave Matthews in a happy birthday message played on the screen, said: “You were definitely the first rock’n’roll president.”

With the choice of The Road Home in the first refrain by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s choral performance, presenters quietly acknowledged the heartbreak usually avoided in polite conversation around here: that the end of Carter’s life is imminent.

Carter is in hospice care at home in Plains, Georgia, and has been since February 2023, 578 days ago. A National Institutes of Health analysis noted that the average stay in hospice is about 17 days. Carter’s wife of 77 years, Rosalynn, died last year after a few days in hospice.

Last month, he told his grandson Jason Carter, “I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala.”

“As I’m sure you know, my grandfather wishes he could be here tonight,” Jason Carter said on Tuesday. Georgia Public Broadcasting plans to play the concert on Jimmy Carter’s birthday in a couple of weeks. “I will guarantee to you that he will be in front of the TV, watching,” the younger Carter said.

Many of the performing artists, including rock group Drive-By Truckers, Allman Brothers member Chuck Leavell, and The B-52s have Georgia ties.

The B-52s formed in Athens, Georgia, while Carter was campaigning for president in 1976. He was 52. Vocalist Fred Schneider was 25. The B-52s held their farewell concert last January at the Fox.

The event raised money for the Carter Center in Atlanta, which promotes health and advocates for democracy around the world.

Most recently, the Carter Center, in conjunction with other advocacy organizations for international democracy, released a set of models for genuine elections – a set of specific steps that government leaders and democracy advocates can take to help strengthen democracy.

Jimmy Carter founded the Carter Center 42 years ago.
