I'm listening to Gordon Lightfoot right now
there is 8 hours worth, I've heard the famous song already
So I'm going to switch to A ha
He's just a year younger than me
but obviously I'm the one the girls scream for
ok, vomit in the bucket for
We used to have non stop music in the computer room
Is it 40 years ago now, where did the time go
People tell me i haven't changed
and no not my socks
So what was the Simple Stuff I was going to talk about
Now that I've done the prologue
Yes, I remember you can help your kids with simple tricks
Fat, Cat, Nat, Pat, Rat, Mat
just by changing one letter you create another word
This is easy fun
Rhymes are easy, spelling is trickier
BUT
if they learn the trick it makes them feel happier
and increases their vocabulary
Growing up our big brother was learning languages
so a smattering of foreign words came our way
We had an entire family trip to Lourdes in 1966
when the World Cup was on
So early exposure to words gave me a love of them
SO
let your kids see that words are fun
and Adjectives more fun
From my 11 year old Latin Lesson
with Mr Proctor
Think of a car, a big car, a big red car, really big car,
red, with a bell, and ladder
So the mental picture may have started with a mini
But ended with a Fire Engine
That's the power of Adjectives
Simple
But mind expanding to a child
You also get them to observe
look out the window, what do they see
Look for a minute then close their eyes
or look at their ugly sister
then explain what was outside
Simple simple stuf
BUT
it will teach observation skills
So they can become Policemen, or really. dangerous wives
Cos they'll spot the hairs from your lover on the car seats
And then they'd Wave Goodbye just as Aha is singing beside me
With that, I'm finished for the day, as the pain descends
