You don’t know the History
You don’t know the Pain
You don’t know the Why
You don’t care, you were not There
You don’t even Wonder
You cannot even See
You are Ignorant
You don’t even bother to switch on your Mind
You don’t even think about being Kind
You just Judge from your Ivory Tower of Ignorance
You play with your toys without having a Thought
You do loads of things that are really Nought
You haven’t the energy to Engage
You are a Sage of Stupidity
You never will Think
Only when there is a Stink
So come on and be Aware
Look with your own Eyes
Look with your own Heart
Shout with your own Voice
Work with your own Hands
Love with all your Bleeding Heart
Love because it is Right
Without Love YOU are Nothing
You are just a Vegetable Waiting to be Sliced for the Table
Make your Life
Make your Life be full of Ingredients
Don’t be just one ingredient in somebody’s Pot.
Fill your Life, fill the Soup of your Life
You are millions of experiences to be Enjoyed
You just need to get off the fence and Join In
Switch off all your toys and Love Life
Live Life Face to Face
Embrace Life and Living
Have as many experiences as Possible
Add to the Soup that is your Life
But  to begin, switch off all your Toys
Speak face to Face
Switch off Facebook
And Start Living Life
Real Life is real people you can Touch
Not Clicks
Clicking is not Living
You are better than That
Go and have a Conversation
This can lead to Love
You don’t Know Until you Try
Happy Valentines 2018

How are you Feeling Today

How are you Feeling Today? ©

Michael Casey

Today I’m going to talk about “feelings”, obviously as a writer I have no feelings, I just sit on the sidelines observing. You are all so cruel if you think that, you’ve hurt my feelings in fact. Feelings are strange things, what touches one of us has no impact on another. It’s only when we have a connection that we feel things, or feel more connected. We love our mum, so when she is sad we are sad. We love our dog so when the dog is hurt we feel the pain too, especially here in UK, RSPCA and all that.

When we are under the weather or sick we feel bad, and blue, and  when we are well we are in the pink of health. Skin colour can show just how good or bad our health is. I kind of “nursed” a lodger, he had yellow jaundice, so obviously there his skin colour was a giveaway to his health. 50 years ago he was told to stay in bed. So I remember him and still pray for his soul as to me he was almost an uncle.

We show our feelings via hugs and kisses, we kiss our children and stroke their hair. If we only kiss our dog and stroke the cat then I’d say your priorities are wrong, sadly there are some who’d care more for the pet and ignore the kids. And the converse the cat never gets fed and starves to death, and when the RSPCA comes the pet owner protests they love their animal. They love them so much they do not feed them.

Feelings can be hurt, and things can fester, because people do not show or notice others feeling. Bull in china shop or Donald Trump springs to mind, ask any Politician world wide and they will agree. Sorry for the pause in the writing, I’m not ignoring you, I just had to pooh. Ok, I’m lying it was a cheap rhyme, what’s the crime, ok enough of giving you the hump, I was just giving my balls to Trump. He’s playing pitch and putt on my back lawn. I don’t want to hurt his feelings after all, he had so much misspent power after all. Maybe he’ll feel better after Singapore.

You have to make allowances for people and their feelings, do show some consideration, prove you care. You don’t even have to do anything, just be there and sit there when your granddad’s mind is nearly gone, you sit and talk like a babbling brook, because you care and because you love him. You haven’t got fancy words and phrases like your flash cousin, but granddad looks past him to see have you arrived. His eyes light up because he can feel the love, though other days he can hardly recognise you.

Your cousin boasts about the nice things he has given granddad, all things and not enough love. You gave granddad a Mickey Mouse watch because it amused him. Your cousin swopped it for his Rolex. But the next time he visited, granddad was wearing Mickey Mouse and the Rolex was in the jar with his false teeth.

Feelings can be hurt and feeling can be mended, its only Pride that gets in the way, you say sorry first that kind of thing. We’ve all been that, that’s what makes us human, we have feelings.

Monument to Headstone ©

I wrote this over a year ago. And tonight when I saw the film  for a 2nd time, it really had an effect on me. So was I too shallow last time, or was I in the right frame of mind tonight? Either way The Nazi are still burning in Hell. And I do love a bit of art myself. I should have written a new piece today but the Pain monster was annoying me enough to make me lazy. There are over 1800 separate pieces of writing  on this site, so read something else if the piece bores you.

I saw The Monuments Men on Film 4 via Freeview yesterday, and I was pleased, I enjoyed the story and though at times it seemed a little lightweight it really got me thinking. So George Clooney you did well, even if you do look like an older version of me, or is it Huw Edwards?

The story in Monuments Men is based on true events. The Nazis were hoovering up Art and stealing it, then hiding it in old mines, in the future there would be a museum all planned by Hitler himself, so  the film told. What was so interesting was that by stealing Art, the Nazis were wiping out People’s very existence. There was a line in the film about if you take their Art away you steal and destroy their very soul. Think of Dash in Iraq right now, or Pol Pot in Cambodia, wiping the face of History, so only Evil remains. The Rape and Kill policy of conquest.

Another scene at the end of the film the Monuments Men found a drum of gold nuggets, only it was not gold nuggets, it was the gold fillings of Jews who had been murdered. Such tremendous Evil.

Now whatever I say next is trivial and worthless compared to what we are all thinking about now, the Evil men sink to. But I’ll try because if we all sink into despair then Evil has won. We have to remember to laugh, to think of the silly things that may us all Human.

Like giving a leaving present of a four pack of toilet paper to somebody who always hid in the toilet instead of working. Or a pair of silver foil pants because he once set fire to his trousers while having a cigarette while sat on the toilet on a night shift. How we all laughed.

Silly remembrances make us human, like the time you set fire to a fart in the middle of the dark of the night while the building was being refurbished, all the colours of methane or whatever it is. Sadly it was 20 years before mobile phones were invented otherwise it would have been filmed and live streamed. This would be called a Modern Art Installation and maybe win a Turner Prize, the Nazis would never have collected it and buried it down a mine. It would have been burnt just as Picasso and books were.

I’ve talked about either end of the spectrum to highlight, light and laughter compared to Evil. We all have our favourite possessions too, it may be a mint Pink Floyd album, it may be granddad’s old walking stick gathering dust in a corner, or a photo of dad riding a donkey at the beach, you had to really beg him before he got on the donkey. But now that photo is a really treasured possession. Think what would you save if the house was on fire, or a flood was coming. Its at these moments that you may discover for the very first what Love really means. You love the memories, the love behind the items. What is your Rosebud item?

They say that when you die, or are electrocuted your whole life flashes before you. So what will be on your film reel, will it be great works of Art that you were able to buy because you were a success in your life? Or will will it be thousands of smiling faces, lit like lights when they see you? Or even if it is just one smiling face, your wife, your lover, or your children.

If when you life goes to black there are tears, real tears from millions or even just one person, then you have not wasted your time on this earth. This is your Monument, the tears shed on your tombstone, here lies Michael Casey the Birmingham Writer, he may have been a totally useless man, but his stories made me more human, and for that I thank him and I shed tears on his grave.
